The Palais des enfants

The Palais des enfants is a collaborative project between the Palais de la Découverte and GrandPalaisRmn.
It is located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, on Level -1 of the Grand Palais and the Palais de la Découverte.

Experiment and wonder

What do a scientist, an artist and a child all have in common? Their curiosity! At the Palais des enfants, we pique and develop this interest by engaging 2-10-year-old visitors in purpose-designed exhibitions where they can experiment, have fun, dream … and be surprised. Through an enthralling series of hands-on displays, real artworks, science experiments and interactive devices, children can hone their critical thinking, sensory awareness and creativity.

Explore and share

In each exhibition, young visitors venture into immersive environments where they are free to wander at leisure. These unique experiences, bridging scientific and artistic cultures, open their eyes to the world around them and foster intergenerational sharing with the grownups accompanying them. There are thrills and discoveries galore in store!

Art meets science

The Palais des enfants combines the Palais de la Découverte’s know-how in terms of science exhibitions for young audiences and the GrandPalaisRmn’s artistic expertise. A wholly unique approach!

FAQ

The Palais des enfants is a space that hosts temporary exhibitions. Each of their themes is explored through a twofold lens: art and science.

It is the first permanent cultural venue in France to fuse art and science, designed entirely with children in mind.

Its inaugural exhibition, Transparency, which runs until August 2027, delves into this phenomenon through artworks, hands-on displays and experiments of all kinds.

No! The Palais des enfants is an original space co-designed by the GrandPalaisRmn and
Palais de la Découverte. It puts on temporary exhibitions where art meets science.

It combines our respective skills and expertise: the GrandPalaisRmn’s know-how in terms of art exhibitions, and the Palais de la Découverte’s experience in terms of child-centred science exhibitions.

The Palais de la Découverte is currently undergoing renovation. The Palais des enfants is the first discovery space to reopen inside the building of the Grand Palais and Palais de la Découverte, in Paris’s 8th arrondissement.

During the renovations, you can find our science communicators at Les Étincelles du Palais de la Découverte, our pop-up site in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. They present some one hundred science workshops and demonstrations (in French only) for audiences aged 6 years old and over, on seven disciplines – biology, physics, maths, a Planetarium and more!
